IF you are planning a visit to Gunung Mulu National Park, Sarawak’s largest national park, don’t try to go through all its famous show caves in one day.
Instead, do what foreign tourists do – take your time, do a section of the caves at a time and spend more time loafing at the National Park headquarters. Otherwise, you’ll end up with stiff and sore muscles and walk like a broken robot. Just like us.
It was a short stay at the National Park HQ and we only had one day to experience all the attractions within its compound.
Our itinerary listed visits to the Penan Settlement at Batu Bungan, Wind and Clearwater Caves, the Canopy Skywalk, Lang and Deer Caves and bat observation.
At the end of the day, our legs ached badly from the amount of walking that we had not anticipated earlier.
