KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will explore the possibility of implementing a working holiday visa with Australia during the visit of its Prime Minister Kevin Rudd on Thursday, said Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim.
He said the main purpose of such an implementation is to encourage the interaction of young people from these two countries.
"The visa will allow young people from Malaysia and Australia to have working holidays in these two countries," he said Wednesday at a press conference at the Parliament lobby.
Dr Rais said Rudd would be meeting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in Putrajaya on Thursday.
He said the two premiers would also discuss the sisters schools programme where six schools in Malaysia would be involved in exchanging teachers and teaching methods with schools in Australia.
"The involving schools are located in Kuala Lumpur, Sabah, Sarawak and Terengganu," he said, adding that the programme was to improve the interaction of the people from the two countries from a young age.
