KUCHING: The new Sarawak Tourism and Heritage Ministry wants to collaborate with its Sabah counterpart to focus on regional tourism, said Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan recently.
He said this included tapping the Singaporean, Taiwanese and Chinese markets.
Dr Chan, who took over the portfolio following a recent state Cabinet reshuffle, said that Sarawak wanted to emulate the success of Sabah tourism authorities and industry players.
“I am excited about my new job and hope I can tell you a bit more once I have briefings to get some ideas,” he said.
He was speaking to reporters after launching the Sarawak gourmet recipe book Oo ... ha, Favourites of Sarawak produced by Sarawak Tourism Federation (STF) in collaboration with singer Vinc Huong here.
