KUCHING: The Kuching Kite Festival Display and Competition 2012, held at the Jubilee Ground here yesterday, attracted 60 individuals, including primary and secondary school children.
These participants had given a pat on the back of the organiser, Kuching City South Council (MBKS to continue carrying out community events such as this, said MBKS Mayor James Chan.
“The council believes in community spirit. Even though the kite-flying event like this may not be as significant as the International Kite Festival in Bintulu, we will keep it going.
“This kite competition is for the people and as far as MBKS is concerned, we want to be friends with everybody,” he said at the prize-giving ceremony.
Chan pointed out that community events were meant to foster closer ties among family members or even friends.
“I thank every participant of the competition today. It is such spirit of community and voluntarism that MBKS appreciates most.”
