KUCHING: MASwings Sdn Bhd (MASwings) hopes to increase its presence to up to five destinations in the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asean Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) by the first quarter of 2013 to improve its offerings as a true blue regional carrier.
Such hopes were expressed by MASwings chief commercial officer, Shauqi Ahmad during a press conference to announce its latest offer to the masses – attractive group fares for flights between Kuching and Pontianak under a promotional campaign known as ‘Ayuh Liburan ke Pontianak’.
Shauqi went on to comment that, “Maswings flights to Pontianak provides local communities in both countries numerous opportunities for business, tourism and trade. By offering such promotional fares, MASwings further establishes its support to the growth of the BIMP-EAGA region.”
He noted that this was a network the airline wished to proactively leverage as it continued its plans to attract an increasing number of visitors into Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines to become a ‘bridge to connect people in Borneo’.
The chief commercial officer also said that the airline was currently happy with the response so far since its inaugural flight in BIMP-EAGA back in February this year. He added that MASwings would continue to provide good destinations to travellers at affordable prices.
The Kuching-Pontianak flights were also believed to be a good opportunity for Bruneians to travel to the Kalimantan city through the cat city, as MASwings also provides three times per week flights from Bandar Seri Begawan to Kuching.
