MIRI: The inaugural Asia Music Festival starting tonight will have comprehensive media coverage with some 70 media members invited including 40 from outside Sarawak.
Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) chief executive officer Datuk Rashid Khan said the journalists will help put Miri in the spotlight.
“This will also give the opportunity for journalists from outside the state to converge in Miri to write promotional news for the resort city,” he told a press conference yesterday.
He said everything is ready for the festival to be held at Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club in collaboration with Miri City Council (MCC).
“We have made all the needed preparations to ensure a smooth kick-off tomorrow (today) and now we are all set to go,” he said.
Meanwhile, Miri Mayor Lawrence Lai said over 100 big bikers will arrive at the venue at 6.30pm for the Big Bike Show — a fringe event for the festival.
“The bikers will be from Sibu, Bintulu, Miri and Brunei. There will also be collectors’ items such as Vespas on display alongside the big bikes,” he said.
Other fringe events are a tattoo exhibition involving 13 tattoo artists, handicraft exhibition and Asian food fair.
