KUCHING: A programme called ‘Santubong at the Museum’ will take place at Dewan Tun Abdul Razak, Sarawak Museum on Oct 26 from 2pm to 4pm in the lead-up to the upcoming Santubong Nature Festival (SNF).
Organised by MNSKB and Friends of Sarawak Museum (FoSM), the two-hour programme will include a 50-minute talk on ‘Santubong, Where Evolution Started! A.R. Wallace and the Theory of Natural Selection’ by Sarawak Forestry Corporation ecologist Rambli Ahmad, a 20-minute tour of the natural history collection.
The tour will highlight animals found in Santubong such as birds, molluscs and mammals by a FoSM docent and a 20-minute tour on archaeology also by a FoSM docent.
This exciting programme is held with the objective of increasing the knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the historical, natural and archaeological significance of Santubong as well as to promote public interest in attending SNF.
MNSKB is co-organising with SNF with Permai Rainforest Resort and the event is supported by FoSM, Sarawak Heritage Society, Sarawak Museum, Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, LimKokWing Institute of Creative Technology, UCSI University, Damai Central and Sarawak Photo Art Society.
The festival offers fun-filled and informative activities on Nov 9 and 10 at two venues, Permai Rainforest Resort and Damai Central.
