KUCHING: There was no orang utan reception for the Australian delegation from Northern Territory to Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, but their coyness couldn’t have been met with a more understanding group than Parks and Wildlife Minister Bess Nungarrayi Price and her entourage.
Speaking to reporters after a briefing by Francis Gombek of Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), Price spoke of possible cooperation and sharing of ideas with the Sarawak government in terms of crocodile management.
“In the northern part of the Northern Territory (NT), we do get crocodile attacks but what Parks and Wildlife is good at is managing crocodiles. We have experts to do it,” she said.
Adding that NT is way ahead of Sarawak in crocodile protection, Price said they would be able to boost the state’s knowledge in protection of crocodiles and protecting people from the fearsome reptile.
“We are more familiar with managing crocodiles,” she said.
