Call on all Mirians to work together in city’s tourism development

MIRI: Tourism remains a vital sector as far as the state is concerned and in this regard, this city has a lot to offer, says Assistant Minister for Sarawak Tourism Datuk Lee Kim Shin.

As such, he stressed that this sector would need full cooperation from the people to make it work.

“I hope all of us would work closely with the ministry and also the tourism board in promoting Miri tourism,” he said at the launch of Permy Mall’s ‘Chinese New Year Fest 2017’ here Friday.

Kim Shin, who is Senadin assemblyman, also pointed out the need to create events to attract more tourists such as this year’s Miri Country Music Fest, Borneo Jazz, deep-sea fishing competitions, Miri Marathon and other sports events.

“When the tourists come to Miri, they would be spending their money here – this would bring in the ‘tourism dollars’ that boost our economy.

“Therefore, I hope everyone, especially those from our business community such as tour operators and hoteliers, would work together to promote Miri city.”

Moreover, Kim Shin hoped the Miri City Council (MCC) and the public would ensure the city remain clean and attractive, especially its parks, public toilets and food outlets.
