Bung Bratak mountain set to mesmerise tourists

BAU: Bung Bratak mountain is set to be an exciting tourist attraction after undergoing some upgrading and facelift.

Bung Bratak Heritage Association (BBHA) chairman and founder Datuk Peter Minos said a RM5 million allocation had been approved to upgrade the facilities at Bung Bratak, located in Kampung Tembawang Sauh.

“Bung Bratak has the potential to attract tourists from within and outside the country. This is a historical location founded over 750 years ago. It has great scenery and provide good exercise for visitors,” said Minos during Bung Bratak Day on the mountain top on Sunday.

Among the facilities to be built are two longhouses – one to serve as accommodation for tourists and the other to house a canteen, museum, office and conference room. The accommodation will be at minimal charge of RM20 per adult and RM10 per child per night, and operates 24 hours a day.

Minos said he hoped the upgrading work could be completed before next year’s Bung Bratak Day.

On the tourism potential of Bung Bratak, Minos pointed out that it had two natural waterfalls and a natural spring water pool which is believed to be capable of curing all sorts of illnesses.
