KUCHING: Malindo Air will be expanding its domestic flight service in Sarawak this June.
In stating this, its chief executive officer Chandran Rama Muthy explained the airline is looking to expand its range of flights from Kuala Lumpur to three other regions in Sarawak, namely Miri, Sibu and Bintulu.
“In addition to these flights, we are also looking to offer direct flights from Kuching to international destinations such as India and Indonesia,” Chandran announced during the Malindo Air Product Briefing which was attended by key tourism industry players here yesterday.
As the first hybrid airline in the country to fly the 737-900ER, he pointed out that Malindo Air was “not just a low cost airline” as it provides exceptional air services tagged with low fares and value added services.
Malindo Air with its hybrid airline concept is offering business and economy class.
“The all-leather seats have wider seat pitches of 45 inches in business class and 32 inches in economy class and all passengers will have the privilege of enjoying our in-flight entertainment system provided at each seat,” said Chandran, adding that business class travellers would have an allowance of 30kg for their check-in baggage while those travelling in economy class are allocated 15kg.
Meanwhile, Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) chief executive officer Datuk Rashid Khan said in his speech that STB and Malindo Air were currently in discussion on a collaboration not only on flights to Miri, Sibu and Bintulu from Kuala Lumpur but also on direct flights from Kuching to international countries.
