‘Freedom Beach Fiesta’ is back from June 28 to 30 in Kuching


KUCHING: In less than two weeks, ‘Freedom Beach Fiesta’ one of the biggest beach parties with the tagline ‘Unity through Diversity’ will be back in conjunction with the renowned Rainforest World Music Festival 2013 (RWMF).

The three-day fiesta will be held from 10am to 3pm daily from June 28 till 30 at Damai Central leisure complex.

According to Damai Bay Management Sdn Bhd marketing executive Clara Liew, the management chose ‘freedom’ as its central theme in line with its new approach of creating a platform to enable collaboration between individuals, groups and companies from different backgrounds.

“Performers can perform as freely as they want during the three-day event. Thus, this is a good platform for them to show their talent to the public,” said Liew at a press conference yesterday to announce the event.

The event is mainly held to showcase local fortes, acts and talents at the time when Kuching is packed with tourists from all around the world.

Highlights during the event include Sarawak’s second Traditional Tribal Tattoo Expo from Monkey Tattoo Studio and other international tattoo artists, Freedom Cloud, Freedom Music Stage presenting 15 live performances by Kenyalang Music Band from Kenyalang Art House, Cermin, Wild Horse, Heroine and She’s Nuklear from Apple Seed, Ashraff Hardy and Sonar Instinct, Sullivan, Love Comes, Polar, Kenwyn Music House Students from Kenwyn Music School, Black Velvet, Holiday Madness and Triggaz Figgaz and guests disc jockeys, native acts from Belaga and six percussionists from Kuala Lumpur.

Demonstrations and workshops by Skimboarding clinics, Yoyo from 28 Spin, Kuching parkour, breakdance from Soul Dance Studio and Skateboarding from Spoil Devils will be part of the highlights.

“Freedom Cloud is the official music playlist for the fiesta. They will be playing the participants own music and display their Cds, merchandise or apparels at the ‘Freedom Cloud’ stage,” said Liew.

The guests deejays performing include Kiyoshi from Hitz.Fm and Afick Wazai from Era.Fm Kuching (Friday), Kuching born singer Arabryd (Saturday) and Loops Dj Zam and Bass Friends The Pharmacists (Sunday).

There will be a variety of food, drinks and other merchandises at the event.
