Sarawak Rainforest World Music Festival: Hata to give music festival Asian flavour

KUCHING: Asian multinational band Hata will take to the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) stage on July 15 to showcase their unique sound.

A Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) press release said the band comprises musicians from Malaysia, Korea, Taiwan and Turkey.

“They encapsulate the many facets of Asia — capturing, moulding, fusing, and coming up with a unique sound that is completely enchantingly Eastern,” said the statement.

“The music shifts from the spiritual and the evocative, to the exciting and joyous.”

Although it is usually a 24-member group, they will perform at RWMF as a nine-piece band.

RWMF 2012 tickets can be purchased at STB Visitors Information Centres (VICs) in Kuching, Miri and Sibu or from www.rwmf.net.

Tickets are priced at RM110 for a one-day pass and RM300 for a three-day pass for adults, while tickets for children between three and 12 years are priced at RM55 for a one-day pass and RM150 for a three-day pass.

Malaysia Airlines Enrich members enjoy a 30 per cent discount for tickets purchased from VICs.

RWMF was voted for the third consecutive year as one of the top 25 international festivals by Songlines.

The festival will be held from July 13-15 at the Sarawak Cultural Village.

Their CDs of bands and other festival memorabilia will be available for sale.
