KUCHING: Sarawak expects more foreign tourist arrivals when AirAsia launches its direct flight between Penang and Kuching.

State Assistant Minister Hamden Ahmad said AirAsia would operate four flights a week between the two destinations from mid-February.

Passengers on AirAsia flight from Johor Baru and Malaysia Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur, who arrived at 8.15am and 10.20am respectively, had a pleasant surprise as they were garlanded with Sarawak’s beads and presented with flowers and Sarawak Tourism Board’s (STB) calendar of events for Visit Malaysia Year 2007.
