Traditional sports can help preserve cultural heritage in Sabah


KOTA KINABALU: Sabah traditional sports should be revived and developed as part of the effort to preserve the state cultures, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman said.

Musa expressed the confidence that with concerted efforts as well as proper and systematic planning, the traditional sports could be promoted up to the international level and accepted by our younger generation.

“Reviving the traditional sports will ignite the values and uniqueness of the sports as well as to preserve the cultural heritage from submerging from the emergence of modern values,” he said this in the speech when launching the exhibition and traditional sports in conjunction with the Kaamatan Festival celebration at KDCA on Friday.

He said the exhibition and traditional sports emphasised in the Pesta Kaamatan ought to be supported by all quarters as the holistic approach was meant to preserve and promote the aged old heritage from being lost in times to come.
