Borneo Cultural Festival 2010 promises to be merrier

SIBU: The ninth edition of the Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF) this year is expected to be more colourful.Host Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) promises to make it different and merrier.

Council chairman Datuk Tiong Thai King said preparation for the nine-day event which will start on July 16 is now in its final stage.

“We will start the event with a short parade around the Sibu Town Square on the first day (July 16) at 7.15pm.

“Second Finance Minister and Minister of Environment and Public Health Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh will lead the parade with other local dignitaries.”

Tiong was speaking during a full-council meeting here yesterday.

He said the parade will see brass bands, vintage cars, BCF trade and exhibition participants and various ethnic communities in their colourful traditional costumes.
