Photo sessions with “Tarzan of North Borneo” sons at Sandakan Heritage Museum

Visitors to the Sandakan Heritage Museum will now have the opportunity to have their photographs taken with descendants of the “Tarzan of North Borneo” the late A. C. Logan for a small fee.

Mahrup, son of A. C. Logan said he and his brother Ahmad will be at the Sandakan Heritage Museum every day from 9am to 5pm for the photograph-taking sessions.

“This is our effort to help promote the Sandakan Heritage Museum through Martin and Osa Johnson’s 1935 documentary film titled ‘Borneo’ shot in Kuala Abai, Kinabatangan in which our late father played the role as ‘Tarzan of North Borneo’,” he said.

Mahruf said their effort had received the permission of the Sabah State Museum Director, Joanna Kitingan and also the support of the Sukau Assemblyman, Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman.

“Visitors to the museum will also be able to watch the hour long film, titled ‘Borneo’.

“They will also be able to view a collection of exclusive photographs of Sandakan especially the riverine communities and habitats of the Kinabatangan River taken by Martin and Osa Johnson during their expeditions to Sabah (then North Borneo) in 1920 and 1935,” he said.
