KUCHING: The 18th edition of the annual Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) will be celebrated at Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) in Damai near here this Aug 7 to 9.
World music lovers get to take part in musical workshops and jamming sessions held in the afternoon throughout the three days, while the nightly shows will feature ethnic and tribal music from across the globe.
The gathering of music enthusiasts has retained its unique appeal that this year, it has been voted among the top 25 international music festivals for six consecutive years by ‘Songlines’ – a renowned UK-based world music magazine.
This home-grown event, organised by Sarawak Tourism Board (STB), is considered to be one of its kind in the region.
For this edition, the festival will kick off at 2pm with concurrent musical workshops featuring various ethnic and near-extinct musical instruments; followed by simultaneous stage shows from 7pm till past midnight.
