Big potentials for Sematan, Sarawak to be tourism hub

SEMATAN, LUNDU: Sematan has great potentials to be developed as a popular tourism area, Chief Minister Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud said.

He said the Government sees that the best potential for Sematan is for tourism industry.

Before we had tried to overcome the shortage of employment in the area by introducing small medium industries as well as the timber industry but the biggest potential of Sematan is in the tourism industry, he said.

The Chief Minister said in view of the tourism potential of Semata, the Government had planned to link Sematan with two roads - one from inland and the other one along the coast to intensify tourism opportunities in the coastal areas.
