Survey on ‘Touring Experience in Sarawak’ officially launched

KUCHING: Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) and Unimas’ Institute of Borneo Studies officially launched the ‘Touring Experience in Sarawak’ survey yesterday.

The survey, targetting foreign visitors to Sarawak, is aimed at understanding Sarawak visitors’ experiences in greater detail.

According to STB chairman Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz, the effort of the two organisations would produce a data to understand the tourism products and services in Sarawak.

“The survey is divided into five sections; visitors are required to fill their personal profile, where they have visited under ‘Places in Sarawak’, what they have eaten and enjoyed under ‘Food in Sarawak’, what they have attended under ‘Events in Sarawak’ and their overall ‘Touring Experience in Sarawak’.

“The survey will be uploaded into our STB website by next month for a duration of three months. Physical copies of the survey will also be printed out and put at tourists information centres.

“From this survey, we hope to learn of any shortcomings that we have and it will be interesting to see the outcomes,” Abdul Wahab told a press conference after the launching ceremony at STB office yesterday.

Meanwhile, a researcher at Unimas’ Institute of Borneo Studies Dr Hiram Ting said the survey was part of a two-year project to understand why foreigners visit Sarawak.
