Kinabalu Cycling Challenge 2009 this Sunday

Kota Kinabalu: RM30,000 worth of cash and prizes are up for grabs during the 'Kinabalu Cycling Challenge 2009' which will be held on December 13 this year.

According to the organiser of the event, Mustapha Ibrahim, currently 100 people from the Peninsular, Sarawak, as well as international competitors have confirmed participation in the competition.

"The event has been given recognition by the Sabah Cycling Association to be included in their 2010 calendar and become a yearly event," he said.

He said the event will hopefully act as a starting point in spreading the interest of cycling among the public in the effort to find new talents for the State and country.

Four race categories will be held this year, namely Road Bike Open (which will cover a distance of 120 kilometres), MTB Men Open, MTB Men Junior and MTB Women Open, which will cover a distance of 85 kilometres each.
