Borneo Jazz holds KL previews

KUCHING: Borneo Jazz 2012 will hold its second special preview at the Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus in Kuala Lumpur starting eight tonight.

The previews — the first of which was held last night — aim to give audiences the chance to experience the magic of the festival first-hand.

Performing at the previews are Tangora from France and Nita Aartsen from Indonesia along with local bands such as Fresco Harmonica.

“This preview is a glimpse of what they can expect during the Borneo Jazz Festival,” said Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) chief executive officer Datuk Rashid Khan in a press statement.

“This festival and also the upcoming Rainforest World Music Festival in July are two of the most anticipated events organised annually by STB. We promise a truly memorable experience for all.”

Meanwhile, Tangora is a singer, songwriter and composer with a French-Italian background heavily immersed in the sounds of Caribbean and Afro-Latin jazz.

Her songs — sung in Creole, English, Latin, French — are delivered in a wonderfully sultry and sensual voice.

Virtuoso pianist Nita Aartsen has been described as the rising star of classical and jazz in Indonesia.
