Charity programme included in Kaamatan Festival


KOTA KINABALU: A new programme – Kaamatan Charity – has been included in this year’s Kaamatan Festival to emphasise the salient part of the Kadazandusun cultural values.

Legend has it that ‘kinoingan’ made charity and sharing of harvest (ponoluadan om pomohogian tomot) as part of the padi farming culture of the Kadazandusuns.

In the age of modern mass media-mediated culture and globalising economics, it is wisdom for the Kadazandusuns to continue to value the essence of the heritage of charity and sharing culture.

Organising chairperson Datuk Dr Beth Baikan said among the events to be held is a blood donation drive at the Murut Lansaran House, KDCA Cultural Village today.
