Cultural Diversity Rendezvous Day May 29 in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: A Cultural Diversity Rendezvous Day will be held on May 29 with the aim to increase the educational aspect of way of life in Sabah.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Joseph Pairin Kitingan said the programme would be the first to be held in conjunction with the Kaamatan Festival Celebration.

“It will comprise various activities within the cultural village or houses such as the Rungus House or Murut House, and there will be activities related to the cultures,” he said.

Pairin, who is the organising chairman of the Tadau Kaamatan 2008, added that this celebration was for everybody to participate and enhance their creativity and skills, and to develop their talents, education and appreciation for life museum activities.

He encouraged the locals and foreign tourists to visit the event.

Meanwhile, Pairin said that the Kaamatan Festival Celebration this year had received over RM1 million sponsorship from government and private agencies.

“So far we have reached over RM1 million sponsorship and hopefully more tourism-related industry players will participate in this event to attract more local people and tourists to come to this year’s celebration,” he said.
