World Harvest Festival at Sarawak Cultural Village starts tomorrow


KUCHING: The two-day World Harvest Festival (WHF) in conjunction with the Gawai Celebration organised by Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) will be held this weekend.

The festival will showcase traditional music, ethnic costumes, workshops on traditional food and crafts and also a play based on a Bidayuh legend.

This cultural extravaganza, supported by the Ministry of Urban Development and Sarawak Tourism Board is formerly known as the Gawai Tourism Night.

According to the World Harvest Festival (WHF) 2008 Festival Director, Zaini Zainuddin, among the highlights of the events were cultural performances and interactive workshops from international cultural groups from Sanggar Tari Bengkawan, Indonesia and BahBola, Pahang.

The Sanggar Tari Benkawan group, which has 17 members, will be showcasing the arts and culture of the various ethnic communities from Kalimantan, Indonesia.
