700 European tourists visit Brunei on ocean liner

By Jon Tampoi

Bandar Seri Begawan the capital of Brunei Darussalam, was abuzz with about 700 tourists from Europe as the ocean liner, The Coastal Marine, stopped for a day yesterday. They arrived mid-morning yesterday to visit various places of interest in the Sultanate including a half-day city tour and the tropical rainforest in Temburong.

They also had a 'Do It Yourself Tour' in the capital.

Mr S Edward, an Englishman, said he found Brunei to be surprisingly interesting compared to what he read in the guidebook.

The tourists were provided with maps and guides of interesting places and etiquette while in Brunei Darussalam.

As the capital has places of interest that are only walking distance to each other, the visitors found it quite convenient as shuttle bus services were provided.
