Limbang Fest expects to draw 30,000


LIMBANG: Some 30,000 visitors from throughout Sarawak, Sabah and Brunei are expected to attend Limbang Fest from Sept 27-29.

Limbang Resident Maria Hasman said the programme includes the Limbang Regatta.

“Competitors including from Brunei, Kapit and Song will be vying for glory in 18 events including 16 for speed boat races in this regatta.

“The champion will be awarded the Raja Batang Limbang Trophy contributed by the Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Mohd Salahuddin Abang Barieng,” he told reporters yesterday.

There will also be an exhibition on Sarawak’s 50th anniversary of independence in Malaysia and trade exposition, while the Women Day’s celebration will be held on Sept 24.

Minister of Tourism Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg is scheduled to declare open the regatta while Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan is scheduled to launch the Cultural Night.
