Sarawak and Sabah to hold Colours of Borneo next year

KUCHING: The proposed “Colours of Borneo” event is set to be an iconic tourism product of Sarawak and Sabah next year.

Tourism Deputy Minister Datuk Dr James Dawos said there had been no initiative on the programme, which could include the colourful cultural attributes of Sarawak and Sabah into one attractive tourism product.

At national level, the “Colours of Malaysia” parade is celebrated annually. This year, the event was held on May 22 and was renamed “Colours of 1Malaysia” with a tagline event.

However, Dawos said the parade last month saw no cultural representative from Sarawak and Sabah.

“To me, the ‘Colours of Borneo’ could be the greatest thing that Sarawak can offer to tourists.

“Through our culture we have established our unity, and irrespective of what race and religion we belong to, we still maintain our culture,” he said at the Tourism Ministry’s Gawai Dayak open house at Mile 10 multi-purpose hall here yesterday.
